took a risk today....

ok so i've posted on here before that i'm a speech therapist in a school, and i found out in march that i wasn't given tenure or a chance to come back next school year.
WELL I just got an e-mail this afternoon from one of the other young speech therapists in district that SHE decided to resign! she is going into other areas of speech therapy ( maybe a rehab center or EI, i'm not sure).
SO i just e-mailed our director mentioning that i undestand she will be looking for 2 speech therapists for next year now, not just one. and i mentioned that i would welcome the chance to continue in this district.
Luckily i have another job in another district lined up already ( but have not signed a contract yet) and i mentioned that in the e-mail so i don't seem TOO desperate LOL.
not sure if it was the "professional" thing to do, but my husband really put it into perspective and said " it can't hurt to ask! whats the worst she can say, no? then you just take the job in the new district, and you're no worse off than you are now".
Shes out tomorrow, so we'll see what she has to say when she gets it on monday!! i do feel good that i took a risk, though!

i def agree---it cant hurt to ask---is the job in the other district probationary?

Good luck to you! Wow- only needing 2 therapists. We are STARVING for school-based SLPs down here in MD. Sure you don't wanna move?
