Does chicken always smell stank
I defrosted chicken yesterday (on the counter)and went to marinade it and after rinsing it still has a slight odor. Normal? Or was it too hot yesterday and gone bad?

Re: Does chicken always smell stank
Alright thanks girls. DH said it's fine so if he wants to eat it, he can but I am not going to.
I'm gonna try to convince him to let me toss it.

could go either way...
I always defrost meat in the fridge - it's really the safest way.

Re: Does chicken always smell stank
The majority of time, when I defrost chicken and then go to cook it, it smells wierd and I end up throwing it. I hate wasting $$.

Re: Does chicken always smell stank
You shouldnt defrost meat on the counter, its the perfect temperature for bacteria to grow in.
Especially since it seems your pregnant from looking at your avatar. You have to be even more careful

Re: Does chicken always smell stank
Throw it away. You shouldn't defrost meat on the counter - always in the fridge or in the microwave. By leaving it out you are giving bacteria an environment to grow.
