thanksgiving... i know... but please help
this weekend i found out that my cousin and her family will be in NJ for a week at thanksgiving time visiting other relatives. no one has seen our new house, so i said i want them to come out to our place.
this means i'll be hosting a "party" the sunday before thanksgiving for: 8 adults 3 teens 3 kids
i'm excited that i'll be hosting my first REAL dinner party in our house, but i'm also scared sh!tless!!!
how do i decorate?! what do i serve?!
my first real question: i'd LOVE for everyone to sit at the table at the same time. my dinner table serves 6. does anyone know if i can get a large enough table from rent-a-center?

I don't know anything about rent a center, but we had an issue a few years back and we bought the 6' table from target for $30 and added to the end of the table covered it with a table cloth, and it looked great, no one knew it was a plastic table.
As for food, starting doing a search for recipe's now, maybe even try out a few. GL its fun having thanksgiving, I always do and every year it gets bigger and bigger, last year it was 18!!

Re: thanksgiving... i know... but please help
I agree about using a folding table. BJs & Costco have them too. You could even consider placing a wanted add on Craigslist & freecycle & check yard sales this summer too. I saw a nice new style plastic top folding table at a garage sale yesterday. Same thing for folding chairs, try to get them now. Do you have enough matching dinnerware? You can try craigslist & garage sales for that too. Matching tablecloths & even cloth napkins are great to buy one at a time with good BB&B or LNT coupons. You are crafty so you can search Martha Stewarts website for great DIY napkin rings. Other stuff you may want to buy a little at a time is sterno racks, or real chaffing dishes and/or a warming tray. I could never get everything ready at one time without these. You have plenty of time to work on your menu, I have a few great recipes I've been using for years-I host Thanksgiving every year & usually have 18-24 people. Let me know if you would like suggestions. sounds like it will be fun!

Re: thanksgiving... i know... but please help
thanks!!
i will take you up on the offer for recipe help.
as far as the other things... i've been organizing my home one room at a time, in two-three weeks i'll be working on the storage area. at that point i'm going to see what i need. i'll create a list and hit the yard sales throughout the rest of the summer.
lol.. i've already given martha stewart a once-over how well you know me.
i'm starting to feel that i'll be able to pull this off
