So pi$$ed!!!

NYC BOE is so horrible. I came back from maternity leave three weeks ago. TODAY I get a call from the BOE asking if I am still on leave. She said she didn't see my name back on payroll and was wondering if I extended my leave. UMMMM HELLO???? Not on payroll? I went to my payroll secretary that day I came back to make sure everything was put through.

This means that I am not getting paid for the last three weeks and on top of that since they closed out payroll for the summer my checks will be pro-rated like I didn't come back at all.

The entire purpose of going back in May was because we NEED the money. She said something about getting the money they owe me in September. I am so angry right now I am in tears.

Why the h ell would you even go back to work if you werent going to get a paycheck til Sept??? There has to be someone above the person you spoke to that could do something...???

How can they hold your pay (collecting interest in their act-im sure)???

I would DEFINITELY get your union rep involved. DH has had some issues and had his union delegate handle it all. Thats what you pay your dues for! That is outrageous!

I am on a leave of absence from the NYC BOE and they never cease to amaze me. This is totally ridiculous. So basically you should just stop working now since they are not paying you, right? aaaaaaahhh Definitely get a union rep involved. It is totally unfair. Who do they think they are? They are always making these mistakes and thay need to understand that teachers need their paychecks. You worked and therefore should get paid. I would call the union office as soon as possible and set up an appointment. I am so sorry you are dealing with this.

This happened to me when I came back from maternity leave in November. I wasn't put on payroll until after the 2 January check after being told I was on and I went downtown and spoke to numerous people and was told it was my payroll secretary's fault and I kept calling every day and harassing her etc and finally got on. Then in March when all is well I got klicked off of medical and was told that the BOE fired me back in September I was beyond tears b/c I carry the medical for my family. I spent every prep and lunch for over a week calling this one and that one. Finally I called the union and they got me back on. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY INSANE!!!!!!!

That is crazy!!!! I have never heard of such a thing, I would talk to the union.
