Eating "naturally" is so damn expensive..any tips?
So I have been doing a lot of research etc, and am avoiding processed foods etc.
But fresh fruits, veggies etc are more then we are starting to be able to afford.
Natural and Organic meats and dairy is another thing.
ANyone have any cheap tips or cheap meal ideas?
TIA

sure!
I have a good friend who is on a fixed income... I suggested she buy plain frozen vegetables. they are usually grown in season when they have the most nutrients. even organic frozen veggies are frequently less $ than traditional fresh veggies.
also, it's not necessary to buy every bit of produce as organic. Veggies/fruits you peel don't need to be organic, since most chemicals are on the skin.
I believe peppers, tomatoes, and peaches should be organic, while onions don't have to be.
there are websites giving the potential contamination level of traditionally grown produce and advising which are the best organic investments.

I agree with buying frozen veggies. The nutritional value is identical, you can get them on sale and stock up. I know trader joes has a bunch of frozen organic stuff. I use their frozen berries a lot, their really good in yogurt and stuff and way cheaper than fresh berries.
Also, try to eat foods that are local and in season. Things in season are usually cheaper. Look for sales too, and stock up on the chicken and stuff in your freezer.
