food
So now the panic begins - what food do I avoid? I can't go nuts over this. can i still have my subway or quiznos on occasion? I have a list of about 20 questions for my doctor - she's going to hate me :) I'm cooking dinner and not even realizing what ingredients I'm using.

exactly! I do the same. if you drink diet soda, just be careful to only drink ones with splenda, and cut back or elimate caffeine if you haven't already.

Re: food
Also, ladies, if you really like feta, as I do, just make sure it's made with pasteurized milk. I don't eat a lot of it now because it is too salty, but you can still have it if the milk is pasteurized. I asked the owner of my favorite greek place to check and she told me it's all pasteurized that they use, so I have still had my greek salads every now and then. As for cold cuts, as long as they are really fresh, I still eat them. Infact, that's what I have most days for lunch. I just make sure to buy low sodium ones now and also I go to the store a few times a week to get them instead of buying in bulk.

Re: food
I agree with all of this except for warming cold cuts. My doc said that as long as I am buying reputable brands from a reputable place (where they are stored properly) that they are safe.
Here's a question: does anybody know if marinated mozzarella balls are okay? Are they considered one of those "fresh cheeses" we are supposed to avoid? I know I was told not to eat "fresh mozzarella". The container they came in has been thrown away, so I don't know if it said "pastuerized".

Re: food
I would say whatever you can stomach ought to be ok but steer clear of anything that is undercooked or unpastuerized.

Re: food
I think marinated mozzarella is considered "fresh mozzarella." More than likely it has been pasteurized, but I wouldn't eat it just to be on the safe side.
