Re: melbalalala & luck09 Thank you!

here are the recipes I got from the girls:

Baked French Toast Casserole w/ Praline Topping
1 loaf French bread (13 to 16 ounces)
[I usually buy 2 loaves of French Bread instead of one that the recipe calls for. (I use about 1.5 loaves and leave off the ends of the bread). ]
8 large eggs
2 cups half-and-half
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
Dash salt
Praline Topping, recipe follows
Maple syrup

Slice French bread into 20 slices, 1-inch each. Arrange slices in a generously buttered 9 by 13-inch flat baking dish in 2 rows, overlapping the slices. In a large bowl, combine the eggs, half-and-half, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt and beat with a rotary beater or whisk until blended but not too bubbly. Pour mixture over the bread slices, making sure all are covered evenly with the milk-egg mixture. Spoon some of the mixture in between the slices. Cover with foil and refrigerate overnight.
The next day, preheat oven to 350 degrees F.

Spread Praline Topping evenly over the bread right before baking and bake for 45 minutes, until puffed and lightly golden. Serve with maple syrup.

Praline Topping:
1/2 pound (2 sticks) butter
1 cup packed light brown sugar
1 cup chopped pecans
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Combine all ingredients in a medium bowl and blend well. Makes enough for Baked French Toast Casserole.
-------------------------------------------

Coffee Cake
Any Duncan Hines cake mix with 3 eggs and 1 1 /2 cups water. The Duncan Hines cake calls for oil DO NOT USE OIL IN THIS RECIPE!

Mix and put in large roasting pan with tin foil (Reynolds Release) and grease and flour tin foil. (Only use tin foil if you plan on transporting cake to another plate. If you plan on serving in the pan you use, no need to use the foil.

Bake 20-25 minutes at 350 degrees.

While cake is baking make crumbs

Crumb topping
3 sticks margarine (or butter) melted
3 cups flour
1 cup sugar (or 1/2 white 1/2 brown sugar)
1 tbsp cinnamon
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 to ¼ tsp almond extract
Mix all ingredients until solid – when cake is done break up and sprinkle mixture over top – put back in over and bake again for another 25 minutes. Let cake cool a few minutes and sprinkle top w/confectioner’s sugar

Oh - I am so glad you liked it!

I was thinking about you and was going to FM you because I usually buy 2 loaves of French Bread instead of one that the recipe calls for. (I use about 1.5 loaves and leave off the ends of the bread). I hope it came out okay!!! You might want to edit your last post...
