The price of cherries
I was at the supermarket last night and as I passed the produce aisle I was like- Oooo Cherries! To me they are the most awesome summer fruit. So I go to get some and I am shocked by the price! $6 a pound???
Is that normal? I thought they were in season now and should therefore be much less expensive?
Does anyone know why?
Was there a problem with cherry crops recently?

Re: The price of cherries
I don't know why they are so high but I almost neve see them cheap.
I paid $5.99 at Fairway the other day. They are great cherries though. Yep almost $12 on cherries. I only bought strawberries as well..
couldn't afford any other fruit!

Re: The price of cherries
Cherries are usually cheaper in the winter time - we always get them for the holidays so maybe that is their season?

Yeah I don't get it- I noticed they were high over the winter but I figured it was because they might have been out of season. Holy smokes!

Re: The price of cherries
i was craving cherries. I usually get them at Costco. This year, they are not good. Very sour. So I paid $14 for cherries at Stop&Shop. They weren't all that sweet either.

Re: The price of cherries
I have been paying $4.49 a pound at a fruit store near me. I paid over $10 for a bag, but they were so sweet and good.

Re: The price of cherries
Target sells bags of frozen cherries. They taste great for a fraction of the price and are already pitted.

Re: The price of cherries
I got a gift card to Harry and David and decided that I would get cherries with it.
26.00lb
Even with the gift card I can not bring myself to buy them. It is insane.

Re: The price of cherries
I just bought cherries at Iavarone. I didn't even look at the price per lb, but then they ran up for $14!!! Are you kidding me! They were $6 per lb, these things better rock my world.
