My update... anyone else prescrbed prednisone?

So after 2 cycles on Clomid (50, 100) I saw Dr. Bray on Jan 12th. She upped my Clomid to 150mg for 7 days. I'm CD 12 now. I went in this morning and they did a sono and well, no follicles (at least nothing measurable ) they also took blood. Dr. Bray saw me right away and told me she wanted me to start taking Prednisone (2.5 mg twice a day). She also gave me a Clomid prescription but said don't get it filled until they call me with my bloodtest results.

OK, being I'm a teacher (impossible to go to the bathroom or make a phone call) RSofNY left me a message saying "Dr. Bray is very excited, Estrogen is 103". Last month it was only 41. "Don't take the Clomid." I just couldn't remember if I was to take the prednisone???

I tried to call them back at 3:30 and the office was closed so I called the emergency number. I couldn't remember if I was suppose to take the prednisone. They put me on hold and came back saying that they couldn't reach the Mineola office and the woman didn't know what to tell me I'm almost positive I am still supposed to take it.

Anyone else on it?

Theresa, I was just prescribed prednisone today. However, I am supposed to take it day 3. Do you know why Dr. Bray is giving you that med ? You do realize it's a steroid /anti-inflammatory ?

If you are on day 12 with no mature follicules what is the prednisone going to do ? I am a bit confused. Do you have high testosterone levels or high levels of dheas?

Why are they treating you with so much clomid without moving you on to injectibles ?

I agree that it doesnt make sense that they saw no follicles. I took prednisone with my IVF starting two days before ET. If she expects you would ovulate on cd14 I guess that makes sense, except how can you ovulate if you have no follies?

I don't know anything about the prednisone, but I do know that when I was going to the RE, I never had follicles at CD12, they started growing right afterwards and I would ovulate on CD19 or 20. When they did start growing it would be quick.
If I were you I would take the prednisone, what harm can it do for one night? Call them on your way to work in the a.m. and find out what the next step is and what they think is going to happen.

I know that everyone is different but my friend seems to be in a similar category as you.

She first started getting treatment ...she was put on clomid for 8 cycles. The doctor continually raised her dose and each cycle ended up being annovulatory.

She switched to Cornell, and her doctor is Glenn Schattman, who happens to also be her friend, put her on injectibles. The first round she conceived.

I think the fact that your estrogen levels are raising is great news. If they hit near 200 ...that usually means you have a mature follie. So perhaps just like Gerty said, your follies may mature just a bit later in the cycle. I hope this is it for you ! :)

Well you know I told you that the Dr you saw has the same intense fear of multiples with me as well. My new RE said that was ridiculous and we could go onto injectables whenever I was ready. "Our" Dr..refused to give me injectables, she suggested "at least 3-4" more IUIS on higher clomid first. Even after I developed cysts from the clomid and am already on 6 iuis!

I think shes a dope to be honest...to be blunt as well, and in your situation I would demand injectables next cycle, there is NO reason for you not to be on them.
