Now Beth, you know I love ya sista, but you need to come off to your VP as responsible without an attitude.
While I think you should get promoted and be given a giant salary yesterday, that may not happen.
Prepare as you are doing. Do not point out your partner's shortfalls because that is just catty. That doesn't prove you are wonderful. Your work should stand for itself but I wouldn't assume that you will get promoted that day. In fact, I doubt it. I don't know your industry, but it never happens like that in mine.
This doesn't mean you shouldn't get promoted, it just means it may take some time for management to agree to it.
Good luck and I hope you get what you want and deserve!

I am the same way. I have everything dpcumented. Some people only see in black and white, I think the report will be very helpful.

well- I had my review- it lasted all of 5 minutes
not one nice thing to say to me
I am not stepping up enough
but I didn't lose any of my 20 projects/accounts
if I am doing such a so-so job- then why is the senior marketing manager writing a company news letter- and not taking over some of my projects???????
I should have realized that no matter what I do- they just don't promote people here
I am done wasting my time- I turned down 2 other offers b/c of this "promotion" that is never going to happen

Sorry to hear the news. Did you ask specifically what they are looking for from you in order to get to that next level...or promotion. This way you can keep track of your accomplishments and their expectations and then go to your next review with evidence of your "stepping up" whatever that means.

nope- he really didn't give me any feedback as to what I could be doing better
besides showing more leadership
I have a feeling it doesn't matter what I do- he doesn't like to promote people
I am going to talk to the president when he returns from vacation in another week
but my mind is kind of made up already
he is looking for reasons NOT to promote me- not for reasons to promote me
it just doesn't make sense-
He even tried to say that I am just startig to pull together things for the Oct show- then my eyes popped out of my head- since I have been working on that since Feb- and he took it back
I am about to start working on the April Show (which before I started working here- they would start AFTER the October Show - and always be behind- I am the one that pointed that out and put together a new product development calendar)

well I finally spoke to Jake about this last night
He was so MAD
he wanted to come take me out to lunch today but I told him not to worry about it
he said give him 2 months- and I can do what ever I want
I love him- he is the best!

I'm sorry that the review didn't go the way you wanted. It sounds like HE is not a good manager if he is not trying to help by giving constructive critism.
I would schedule another meeting and ask him if he could help you come up goals he would like you to reach.
It will show initiative, you'll see if he's being a real douchebag if he has unobtainable goals and when you meet them (and exceed them) he will have no choice but to acknowledge it in some way.
