How PO d would you be...

...if your new boss gave out your home phone number to a random vendor? Yes... I just walked in the door from work to a message from a vendor. I made a comment like how did you find me? He said your boss gave me your home number.Chat Icon

Actually it was a freight forwarder... loll... can you believe that? WHat makes it worse is that he had the answer to what the guy needed, I emailed them during the day and I cc'd him. ALl he had to do was give him the info. It could have waited until tomorow. It was no big deal. My regular girl was out and he was her back up.

You need to make it clear to the vendor, to your boss and to everyone else in the office that your home contact information is not to be given out. period.

whoa - that is crossing a massive line. your home number should NEVER be given out without your consent!!!!! you have ever right to be furious.

I hope you said something politely, like "I'd really appreciate it if you'd only call my work number. I check the voicemail there frequently enough, and my home number is only for family and close friends."

Then I'd have a chat with the boss about it. I think it was rather inappropriate.

I know that you said you only have experience with home goods but apparel is fun. You should look into it.
