Galway question
For those of you who have been, if you had to choose two out of the three which 2 would you do?
1. The Burren and the cliffs of moher 2. Aran Islands 3. Spend the day in Galway

Re: Galway question
I am from Galway & I have never made it to the Aran Islands. The cliffs are beautiful & I love Galway city. If you are going to the Cliffs you may as well try to get to the Islands. Galway is great a ton of shops etc.

Re: Galway question
I went to Galway city last time I was over and LOVED it. So nice to walk around and shop. I'm doing the Cliffs when I go at the end of the month (whoo hoo) so I'll let you know how they are.
All that said, I would suggest the city and Cliffs.

They are all great places, but do you realize that the Burren and the Cliffs of Moher are NOT in Galway? They are in Co. Clare, so there will be driving involved... I would say about 2 hours or so.
All three are great, but I would do the Aran Islands and Galway city (but again a drive between the two and then a ferry ride--- Galway city is a great town and you could enjoy just walking around, having a pint, etc.
The Burren/Cliffs of Moher and the Aran Islands would be more outside/nature type of activities.

Re: Galway question
I have done all and my personal preference would be the Aran Islands over the Cliffs of Moher. I went to the Aran Islands just before I moved to the US and it was this time of year and they were gorgeous! They kind of reminded me of the Greek Islands, but we did have particularly good weather, which was unusual! I went to the Cliffs many times and, while Clare is my favorite county, I just think the Aran Islands are really worth seeing. If you had the time to fit in both, that would be great. The shops in Galway are nice, but they are the same as any big city in Ireland.

I agree.. the cliffs are so amazing. Galway city was awesome, too. I could be biased though- when i was there, there was an arts festival going on in the streets, it just felt like something right out of a movie.

Re: Galway question
thanks for all of the responses.
we are going on a tour so the Aran Islands and Cliffs are two all day excursions while we are in Galway. So you can go on the all day trip or hang out in Galway. We are only there for 2 days so I can't squeeze in all three.
It is at the end of the tour so I am thinking we may have had our fill of scenery and will want to spend one of the days in the city. So we will either do the cliffs or the islands.

Re: Galway question
I spent a semester abroad in Galway. The Cliffs are incredible and a day walking around Galway city center is a must! Stop in some local pubs (The Quays, King's Head, The Skeff) for a pint, do some shopping, visit Galway Cathedral...ahhhhh...I miss it so!
