I finally get it!
I can honestly say that my whole (adult) life, I have been on a diet. And I have always had this bad way of looking at it like "ok, but this date, I need to lose 10 lbs" and then when I don't hit that target, I get depressed about it and then set another unrealistic goal, and then get disappointed when I don't reach that one.
I exercise everyday and I try to be healthy. I do have some weight to lose and I am trying.
I finally realized this week that I need to start looking at each day as it's own day to reach my goals. Instead of planning out an entire week and saying "by this time next week, I want to lose 3lbs". I am taking it day by day. I am not worrying about tomorrow until tomorrow. Today I am just focusing on staying within my calories, exercising and focusing on reaching my ultimate goal.
I don't know if this makes sense or if I am explaining it right. But instead of looking at the big picture, I am just taking it day by day.
And so far so good!
Just had to share.

I think it totally makes sense. We are each our own harshest critic and when we set goals, sometimes unrealistic goals, for ourselves and then miss them, we feel like failures and beat ourselves up. I think you are taking a very healthy approach by having this outlook.

Lauren it makes total sense
I have all my old books from ww's...all those times I started and then inevitably quit. I think a lot of that had to do with my mind set. I wanted all the extra weight to be off as of yesterday and ultimately my impatience got the best of me and I quit.
Thinking of it as a lifestyle and not a diet really does help. There is no rush, there is no race. It's a journey and you will get there in your own time
Sounds like you are doing great already
