another 55/25 question: help!
Dh is 35 years old. He is starting his first year in NYC in september. Can someone help and tell me is the 55/25 plan beneficial to him.
At 55 years old, he will only have 20 years. Do you have to have 25 years in or just be 55 years old.
Please help

Re: another 55/25 question: help!
I would think it would be beneficial to him...I am in no way an expert and never went to a meeting on it. I just knew it wasn't for me. It was my understanding that it would be beneficial to someone starting teaching later on in life.
I would say call the UFT office but IMO they are very biased on 55/25 and think everyone should do it and that is NOT true.

Re: another 55/25 question: help!
If your DH signs up for 55/25 he can retire at 60 with a full pension. If he does not sign up, it is 30/62 meaning he can retire at 62 with a full pension.
