Okay, I read the actual journal article. As a scientist, it peaked my interest since Cell is a very well-respected journal.
The data looks convincing and seems legit. The only thing is, the genes getting activated in this study have a lot of crosstalk with other genes within the cell (meaning they are involved in signaling cascades that crisscross with other signaling cascades). They may be upregulating genes that are active in muscle adaptation but who knows what else they are activating.
Also, as the news article mentioned this may work in mice it would take a lot more research and time before it is tested on humans.
