UPDATE 8/7: week 2 WI...First WI at WW, it went Ok, but I have a few questions...
Ok, I WI last night. I WI on Thursday at 4 or 5:30PM depending on my schedule.
I lost a whopping .4 lbs.
I went to meetings so that I would not get frustrated and told my leader that I NEED her help to not compare b/c my body to what everyone else is loosing b/c I am just coming off meds that made me gain weight and not be able to loose weight, plus my heart condition, etc. I have SUCH a hard time with this. I am working my azz off, stayed within my points and loose only .4! Then I over hear two girls talkign loudly about how they never excercise and they lost soooo much weight. "Ohhhh, I did not workout once this week and I lost 5 LBS." UGH. I want to scream! Seeing my face turn red and almost fuming my leader asks me: "Did you go to the gym today?" I said "Of course I go 4-5 times a week". Then she asked what i did and I said "45 minutes ion the elliptical and 20 mins of weight training". Then she asked: how much water did you drink today? me: "1.5 liters" Plus I ate lunch today (I tried to NOT eat all day before a WI since I WI in the evening and that is not possible for me. I tried it and got dizzy yesterday, so i had 1/2 turkey breast sandwich 2 hours before WI)
OK, she said that explains it. I was like . She told me NOT to work out on a weigh in day of I need to see the scale move. When you workout hard your muscles take water in like a sponge and it can take up to 24 hours for you body to get rid of the water. Its like weighing a spinge before it is wet vs. after it is saturated.
UMMMMM, OK. This is the first I have heard of this. Isthis true? I do not think my leader would lie to me, I am just confused about this. Was she just trying to prevent me from slapping the other girls that wre there? Was she BSing me so that I would feel better?
The hardest thing is still getting motivated to work my azz off after a .4 loss. I am working SO HARD at this. I am doing all I physically can do without collapsing. I need to see the results of my labor and this is pizzing me off. I cannot take Alli or any other pill b/c of my heart. W T F am I doing wrong? Please help!

Re: First WI at WW, it went Ok, but I have a few questions...
First of all, ignore those girls. They may be losing a lot of weight by not exercising, but in the longrun, it is more likely that they will gain it back.
Second, I know it's hard, but try to keep the mantra in your head that "slow and steady wins the race". Think about it this way - the longer it takes to come off, the more likely it is reflective of a lifestyle change, rather than a temporary, radical diet, which means it will likely stay off longer.
Third, my weight comes off in bursts. I will lose literally NOTHING, or maybe .2 or .3lbs for 3, 4, 5 weeks, and then BAM out of nowhere, I'll lose 3-4lbs. During the downtimes I just use the opportunity to reinforce to myself that it's not so much about the weight, but being healthy, no matter what the scale says. If you're patient, and consistent, you WILL start to see results, it might just take a little time.

Yes, that is true. You weigh less before a weight training than you do after.
I would just do the SAME thing every WI day. So, eat your meals and snacks, drink your water and skip the gym. This way you get weighed under the same conditions every week.
All of the point somethings add up!!! TRUST me!!!! Don't listen to the other girls...like Beth said they will gain it all back!! You are in this for the long haul. So, I know how it feels to be anxious and this is easier said than done, but try not to rush it. Just go in with the mind set that this is your new lifstyle. You are getting healthier and happier and losing weight is just the icing on the cake!
Good luck and Congrats for the loss

Thanks Girls I needed to hear your encouraging words. I just got back from a fast work out at the gym (30 minutes on treadmill) and I have to shower and go to a closing in a few, but i just wanted to say thanks.
Oh yeah...my size 14 pants are falling off me. The 12's are tight still, but when I cam off my beta blockers four weeks ago the 14's were tight. I have to think about these small victories and use them to inspire me I guess. Size 6 HERE I COME!

As always I couldn't agree with Steph more!!! One of my weight loss buddies was losing point something every week - all those point somethings have now turned into over 30 lbs!
Try to keep in mind exactly who you are doing this for - for yourself and for your family. Put those blinders on and keep on keeping on!
Congrats on your loss!!!

It's weird but they say if you lose weight slow, you are more likely to keep it off. Think of it that way. As all the girls have said, the point somethings add up. Just keep doing what you are doing and you will get there.

Week 2 WI: Down .8 so far 1.2 lbs down. I guess my body is still adjusting to being off my beta blockers and I am still on two other meds as well. I'll take it. all of these point somethings have got to add up in a few months, right?
