So mad!!!!! So unfair!!!!!
So the school that I student taught at has hired not one but two new teachers. Surprise..... they are relatives of the staff! I worked my a$$ off and this really makes me mad! They didn't even interview me, or anyone else for that matter, just gave the jobs away as favors.
Here it is Aug, and I haven't been called for one interview, not one writing sample etc. I have had 8 different people look over and read my resume; they all say it's "great." I'm Sec. Eng. so I know there isn't much but I would be lying if I said I wasn't getting depressed and my self confidence was strong. I just can't take much more!

Re: So mad!!!!! So unfair!!!!!
I can totally relate.
The school I student taught and subbed at had positions every year in my field and I either never got interviewed or never got past the first interview.
It sucks!!! Eventually something will come along. I know it is hard to hear but I was in your shoes not that long ago.
It took me 3 years.

Re: So mad!!!!! So unfair!!!!!
I'm Sec Eng too and the competition is insane. I've been on 10 interviews and at each one there have been atleast 20 other people interviewing. I currently teach in the city and just can't handle to commute anymore.....
Hang in there....something will come along. Have you though about going into the city?

Re: So mad!!!!! So unfair!!!!!
I applied to the city, but honestly it would be really hard for me to take a job there unless it was in Queens. My husband is going to be promoted to detective in the NYPD and is NEVER home and we have a one year old daughter, so daycare would be a nightmare with the excessive traveling to the city. I subbed at the above school too for two years! Forgot to metion that. I guess I have to face it......I am going to have to sub yet another year, just now at a new school.

I know how you are feeling. Don't take it personally. It seems its just how some districts operate. Years of dedication and hard work should count for something, but unfortunately its not always the case. I'm a big believer in everything happens for a reason, eventually you will find the right position for you. Good Luck!
