Walking out of a job....

have you ever done this?

Is that considered quitting?? Or just a bad day??

Thoughts.

Re: Walking out of a job....

I never "walked out" but I did quit without giving 2 weeks notice. It was a waitress job back in the day. They treated me really bad and I didn't care if they "suffered". I still feel bad about it to this day b/c I never thought I would do soemthing like that.

I think it depends how the person leaves. I have seen someone leave b/c of a bad situation but returned. Then there's the F-U I'm out of here departure which kind of says it all.

Re: Walking out of a job....

Well I was fired from a job when I worked in NYC and given the option quitting and giving 2 weeks instead of being officially fired...So I did. However it became unbearable to work there anymore and after a week I went to HR (on a Wed or Thurs)and said tomorrow is my last day meaning Friday! I felt great because my manager was on vacation and I screwed her just like she screwed me!

It seems to be the latter. There was some drama and this person walked out. Calls were made and this person is "undecided" as to whether or not they will return. This person was suppoested to work today but is not here.

I would call that job abandonment. Since the drama happened 3 or 4 days ago.

It is never OK for an employee to just walk out without finishing out their regularly scheduled hours. Some employers will overlook it, however I would consider this job abandonment and it would be looked at the same way by unemployment.

I feel the same way. In this situation, this person is being given too much control as to whether or not they want to come back. After 3 days, I say they have lost their job.

Re: Walking out of a job....

No but I did not finish my 2 weeks on one job I had. I just called them to say adios I found a better job sooner. They were not too happy because they were interviewing people and they wanted me to show them the ropes when hired. Oh well.
