Anyone ever quit during first week?

Just curious to see if anyone has ever quit right after starting a job. If so, what were the reasons. HOw did you know the job wasnt for you.

For those of you havent, what was the shortest length of time that you were employed at a job.

When I was in college, I got a job working at Captree Boat Basin & I left when we broke for lunch! I called when I got home & told them I had to quit due to personal reasons. The job was awful - I was sweeping the boardwalk & picking up garbage, etc. in the bathrooms! I was hired as a cashier for one of the booths, but there was some mistake & those jobs were filled. I hated it from the minute I got there!

no, I didn't quit after the first week even though I wanted to.. I stuck it out almost 8 months then quit.

YES LOL I did...my first job out of college I worked for a healthcare company in the WTC. I worked for one week in October 2000 - and I thank God to this day that I left when I did bc if I was there a year later....

Anyway, I was hired as an admin asst and I was told that I was to "run the SVP's life, personal and professionally" and I also was cursed at left and right as in, "who the F* is the new girl?" I worked Monday to Friday morning. Friday morning I got there, sat down at my desk and before I took of my jacket I decided I was not wasting any more time there. I walked over to the office manager and told her I was quitting - and do you know what she told me - "I don't blame you!"

I did it after 3 months years ago. I was getting fed with the company wanting everything perfect to the tee and i couldn't do that with no training so i just gave notice and left.

i had an open end freelance gig once and quit after 2 days. The pay was awful - just slightly more than unemployment - and the woman was a nightmare. She cursed at me left and right, screamed if i stopped what i was doing for a minute (as in, i stop working to take a sip of water and she asks what i'm working on, etc.) I have six years experience in my field and she yelled at me for sending an email without letting her review it first (mind you, right out of college i was never asked to do that.) it was terrible. at the end of the second day, i emailed her and told her that i got a full time offer (a lie, but she knew i was unemployed and would be looking while i worked for her) and had to start immediately.

Never again! Turns out she doesn't have a great rep in my industry, not that i'm surprised...

i was hired as a bus girl at a very popular resturant on LI about 7 years ago... i didnt actually quit or get fired... they not so politly told me that they "didnt need" my help anymore - not sure to this day why they "fired" me... i think they were just a bunch of stuck up not so nice ppl anyways

I quit a job on the first day, right after lunch

I was waiting for an offer to come in from the company I am at now. I went home for lunch and the offer was sitting in my email. so I went back to the other job and resigned.

I felt a little bad about it, and was really nervous and felt awkward. but I have to do what's best for me. just like companies do when they do layoffs.

Me! I quit a nanny job I got one summer after three days. It was for a woman and her two kids in Southhampton. I was living in W. Hampton at the time and the traffic was insane! It took me over 2 hours to commute during rush hour and the people were so stuck up and one of the kids was so bad. I just called her up after the third day and said I'm sorry, but i can't do this anymore. She was mad to say the least.

I also left a job after 6 months. It was a horrible experience, but i stuck it out for as long as I could. When things got almost abusive I walked into my bosses office and told him i was resigning effective Friday (it was a Wed). After calling me all sorts of names and telling me how unprofessional I was being, I went back to my office where he then proceeded to call in the entire office to talk about me. So I got up and left. Never spoke a word to anyone again. If felt SOOOOO Good to leave like that! It made my life a living nightmare those 6 months.

I have. I sat at a computer for a week. No one trained me, no one talked to me and no one set up my email. I figured that cannot be a good sign.

YES I have! Sometimes you just know right away that the job is not for you. Nothing wrong with that! Better than sticking around and being miserable.

If you don't count Victoria's Secret and my allergy attacks from their fragrance department-that was three days, you can count this job.

Three months.
