Well it looks like I have to stop jogging for a wk

I'm so upset I've been jogging now for about 6wks, and I up to doing 3-4miles a day depending on my mood and now I sprained my ankle Chat Icon The dr. said I have to stay off it for a wk, I can't believe I'm upset about this but I really liked getting out of the house for my jog (never thought I would feel that way) Anyhow when I start back up should I start less or do you think it's ok to do what I was normally doing? I feel like I should do more to try to make up for what I loss but at the same time I don't want to hurt myself more. Would love to hear any advise if not thanks for letting me complain.

What did your doctor say about getting back - I would listen to whatever they say? Can you bike/swim? I would probably play it by ear and do the lesser milage the first day. There's no reason to try to make up - your body will fall back within a few runs.

I rolled my ankle on xmas eve last year and it hurt so bad that if I hadn't had xrays, I would have thought it was broken. By the end of the week it was perfect again. I went back slow and steady. did they tell you to take anti-anti-inflammatories? Ibuprofin, aspirin, noproxen?

They said to take ibprofin but to be honest it doesn't hurt that much only when I go from flat foot up my toes so I haven't taken anything. I guess I just do what the Dr. said, take off this wk and do a day or two of walking next wk and then start off a little slow when jogging.

I know how you feel...trust me!!! I had to stop jogging for 5 weeks!

I'm finally getting back into it. I think you should ease yourself into it. 3-4 miles is a lot! You don't want to injur yourself further. Chat Icon
