upper elem grades?

what "prizes" do they like?

I'm moving from a K-3 to a 2-6 school. Are pencils, stickers, rulers, erasers, bookmarks still desired by the upper grades?

erica, I remember seeing boys in a 3-5 school LOVING the cool baseball type pencils, they would even trade them.

the pencil machine at the front lobby was constantly sold out !

They like anything with sports on it or anything with bugs as well. I usually find good stuff at the $1 store...which reminds me I better start my collection soon

Yup- they especially love mechanical pencils, pens in fun colors, baseball cards, grippers for their pencils, little notepads....I'll try to think of more....

Oh and if your school allows it- they LOVE anything edible. It doesn't have to be candy, it could be oranges, pretzels, granola bars, fruit snacks, etc...

I have all sorts of pencils, erasers (especially the smelly ones), and little crappy toys from like the party store (little slinky's, etc).

I teach 5th.

About 4/5 of the class loved them. Then you have the few that were 'too cool' for the prizes.

Mechanical pencils huh? better than the leftover "reader" pencils I have from the primary school? I guess that's the "too cool" group though.

I'll have to make a trip to the dollar store!

i replied to beautyq115's post re: prizes. i don't really do them anymore. also, my self-contained kids get too distracted by the little pencils, toys, etc. it's too much management for me when the ones hat don't have one perseverate on not having one or cry, etc.
