fall weekend getaways
DH & I are thinking of taking a quick getaway during Columbus Day. We've done a lot in upstate NY and would prefer not to go there. Any other suggestions? TIA

Re: fall weekend getaways
Newport, Vermont, New Hampshire...
You will be able to see a lot of the leaves changing if you go to the New England States. You can take the ferry over & drive to where you would like to be.

Re: fall weekend getaways
Are you looking for foliage, or just to get away? Maybe PA (Poconos), or Baltimore/D.C.?

Hunter Mountain is awesome in the fall!!!
They have Octoberfest there, you can take the lift up the mountain and the view is insane with all the fall foliage.

Re: fall weekend getaways
I def. recommend VT. If you don't mind a bit of a drive, head up to the Stowe area-- amazing hiking, a great village, cider mills, Ben & Jerry's factory, and about 30 min from Burlington-- It's about a 6.5 hr. drive, but so worth it!

Re: fall weekend getaways
Amish Country, or Mystic where you can spend the days and take a short drive to foxwoods or Mohegan sun. Mystic is a cute little town and has a nice aquarium. Amish Country is really nice, we love it there in the fall. Just relaxing, shopping, checking out farm stands and taking a horse and buggy ride.
