Has anyone used this cardio machine yet?
They have it at NYSC...I tried it for the first time today. I can't tell if I like it or not! It's called the AMT100i.
Looks like an elliptical but it does not work like one. You control the movements...whereas when you're on an elliptical, you basically control the speed, this one you control your stride and speed all at once. So the arms and feet don't necessarily roll together so easily. It was a real PITA at first!
Has anyone tried it? I"m just not sure I'll use it again. I'm wondering if I just didn't 'get' it. I was on it for 45 minutes and never felt terribly winded, just frustrated. This is not a machine you can coast on....you have to really focus on it.

i loved it! i do the "stairmaster" setting for a few minutes then lengthen my stride. i like that i can control the length ofmy stride. on the elliptical, the backs of my knees start to hurt!

So much harder than the elliptical and even better for your body, but you have to do it right. Most people don't go hard enough to get the resistance going the right way.
We have those where I work and I love making people use them for their cardio :)

Could you describe how to use it 'right'? I think I finally 'got' it towards the end, but I never felt like I got my heart rate up there. After 45 minutes I quit and went to the arc trainer, and then my heart rate seemed to be flying.
Any tips?
oh and the other machine that baffles me- the Cardio Wave!
I guess I just have to get used to these machines before I swear them off.

I used it a couple of weeks ago at NYSC and had the same experience you did. I usually just run on the treadmill and was wanting to try something different.

We have them at my gym, I tried it even thought I typically don't like the Elliptical - one of the workers described it as a cross btw the tread mill and an eliptical.
yeah, I am so uncoordinated it will take me awhile to get used to this one I really am a spaz on it!

Re: Has anyone used this cardio machine yet?
I tried it again today and it was definitely easier. I feel like the lower the resistance, the harder it is for me - something about the way my feet and knees are affected. I went on the interval setting and bumped up the resistance for each interval so I could feel it.
But I still don't feel like this machine 'kills' me the way the stepmill does- whew that one's a killer. I sweat profusely on that thing and feel like I'm gonna die. The new one I just feel kind of all-over physically exhausted but not as much of a cardio workout, if that makes sense.
