Booked trip to Prague and Budapest
DH and I could not decide where we wanted to go on vacation during the week between Christmas and New Years and after I saw MrsPorkChop's post about Budapest, I decided that I wanted to go there!!
We are flying into Budapest and staying there for 4 days, 3 nights and then will be taking the train (though it's long!) to Prague and staying there for 3 nights We are staying at the Corinthia Grand Hotel Royal in Budapest and the K&K Hotel Central in Prague.
I am so excited because I have not been to either city
Does anyone have any recommendations for "must see" things to do or great restaurants?

Re: Booked trip to Prague and Budapest
When I went to Prague we went to Terezin, which is an old WWII ghetto / concentration camp. It was a great day trip about an hour away from Prague. Please please make sure there is a bus back and get the time! We got stuck there at night in the middle of November (it was cold!). We finally got a taxi out of there (for 25 Euros), but no one spoke English in the town. Thank god we knew some German b/c that helped us.
Charles Bridge is beautiful, but watch out for all the tourist cafes by there. I went to this one restaurant and it was great, but I don't remember the name, so sorry.

Right now, we are planning on take a train. Unfortunately, it's about a 7 hour train ride so we lose most of a day. I am actually looking to see if we can get any cheap flights between the 2 cities.

Why not do an overnight train? Then you save on hotel too. The first class sleepers are pretty cheap over there.
Im all for a cheap flight though, too. DH loves trains, I love cheap flights

i looked at trains in october for my dates- it was $252 for one way - that was second class flights were stupid- like $400 pp
we are now concentrating on lisbon/madrid 5 day trip. easy jet is $60 pp for the flight so thats going to be our concentration after all

We just did MAdrid and Lisbon in April.. the overnight train between those cities was the WORST train Ive ever been on. I didnt sleep a wink because it was so violent. Id take a $60 flight in a heartbeat!
