Montauk in October
How is Montauk in October? I am planning a trip for my parents' 60th birthdays and want to find a location that would be good for my whole family (6 adults, 1 teenager, and 1 toddler).
Are things open then? Is there fall-type stuff to do there?
We stayed at the Montauk Manor in April and were considering going back there, but there really wasn't much to do then so I'm wondering if it would be the same thing in October.

i grew up out in east hampton and most of the stuff is still open out there until Thanksgiving- you should call head for a room for sure- dont forget the long columbus weekend too lots of people out there then. there are also lots of farm stands that will be open for pumpkin picking too on the way out there ( a great one is in between southampton and water mill on the right side) it can be busy but it is no nice-- enjoy your weekend!!!!

We have a place in Montauk and we go every October and I love it. I can't wait to go this October. Things are still open but it is nice and quiet and it isn't freezing yet.

columbis day weekend is there fall festival. they have a clam chowder contests, wine tasting games for kids and firworks at night.
love going out there in oct!

We try to get out there every October for the striper run, so there's usually a big fishing crowd. It's beautiful out there in the fall, so there's still a good amount of tourism. Some of the smaller hotels start closing down in mid-October, but I think a lot are open through November.

Dh and I try to go every Oct. for Columbus day. We stayed at Montauk Manor last Columbus Day weekend and it was nice. A little chilly, but still very nice. The best part was the fireworks on the beach! They will be doing that again this year for Columbus day weekend!!! I'm trying to get myself out there again too!
