Re: Is it safe to be around paint?

I hear that if you have the place very well ventilated (every window open) that it is OK...

But I'm one of those better to be safe than sorry... When DH plans to paint I will be at my parents house.

certain paints are "better" than others, but i am electing not to paint. we are waiting for a day when DH can open all the windows and do it when i'm out of the house. when i come home we will close the door and keep the windows open as needed. we are waiting for warmer weather to do this...

Re: Is it safe to be around paint?

I'm having my whole upstairs painted right now, 3BRs, bathroom and hallway. My dr said it's ok as long as it's been aired out. They leave the windows open all day, and honestly, it doesn't even smell like it's been painted by the time I get home.

I asked my Dr. if I could paint and he said that there's no problem as long as it's latex based paint. He said to crack the window and things will be fine. He said not to worry or think twice about it. I painted the whole nursery myself.

IMO I would stay out of the house for awhilw while DH paints. thats what I did when mine started paiting the new house. it was a good excuse to go visit my parents!

Re: Is it safe to be around paint?

I just asked my doctor this yesterday. He said that as long as there is ventilation it is fine (and that was for me to paint, not just to be in the house). I have also heard that as long as it is latex it is fine because latex doesn't have as strong an odor as oil-based, and you also don't need turpentine to clean it up.

We've done a lot of painting the last few months I have been pregnant and always make sure we have ventilation and use Latex paint. The weather has been great so just crack some windows and you ought to be ok! DH is painting our bedroom this weekend Chat Icon
