Spinoff on names...
does anyone have any "requirements" or "restrictions" of the names they want to choose. I know this is a confusing question but ill give you mine and hopefully it will be clearer.
I dont like cutesy names. i like names that grow up with a person i dont like names that sound good for kid but then when you get older it sounds childlike and vice versa i dont like too adult sounding names for a baby.
I also dont like too popular names and i dont want my kids to have a very unique name like i did ( where you cant find things with the name on it I hate that) but i also dont want my kids to be one of 10 "Janes"( just an example) in her class.
Yes that limits my choices for sure. anyopne have any name quirks?
So far we have Christopher for a boy and I really like Lauren for a girl but Dh wants Jessica which i like too

Re: Spinoff on names...
If we are ever to have a boy, I will not have a III. DH is a Jr., and wants a boy to carry his name. I told him NO WAY!
I got the first name I wanted for our . It's my middle name and what I wanted to change my first name to but decided to keep it for "my girl" instead. I compromised on the middle name, DH's mother's name...

I had the same requirements as you and our daughter's name is Miranda Shea which I think is classic and will grow with her and is definitely not overly popular.

Re: Spinoff on names...
My only requirement is that the name has to start with a "J" after my dad. Other than that, we would like a name that translates well into my husband's language.

I am the opposite. My husband and I are both M first names our last name starts with an M and his middle name starts with an M! I don't want M names and I feel like they limit me too much.

Re: Spinoff on names...
I didn't want a really popular name, growing up I always had at least 1 other michele in the same class as me and i hated being known as michele z.
I wanted a name for our daughter that has meaning, family history and a name she can grow with.
We didn't want a name that started with the same letter as our last name and Dh didn't want a name ended in the same vowel.
So we chose Gianna Nicole Gianna in italian(which we are both italian) means john, and that is my grandfathers, brother's and DH's father's name. Nicole is my dearest cousin's name who has a blood disease.

Re: Spinoff on names...
Nothing too cutesy so when she's an adult will not sound ridiculous. Nothing too common and or trendy or spelled weird just to try and be different... Nothing that people can use as a nickname. The name we give her is her name, if we wanted a nickname we would use that name instead...
My friend sent me the social security name link index as a guide and if it's in the top 10 or even 20, we aren't interested...

This is so true...
My friend said we should use this test for all potential names. Which fits better...

Re: Spinoff on names...
Even though I am not PG, DH and I have discussed this and we won't give our child a name, that reminds ous of someone we don't like, ex, I love the name Kim, but DH knew someone that was lets just say not a nice person, so that name is out. I also liked the name Savanah for a girl, but it reminds DH of a porn star, so thats out. Should be fun picking when the time comes. Also, any child we have, will have somewhere in their name, whether middle or first, our grandparents names.
