Need Suggestions for France

DH and I are planning a trip to France next July, but only for a week (we have a wedding in another country where we will be spending our second week). I'm thinking something like 3 days in a beachy area, 2 days in a country area and 2 days in Paris, but I just started looking into this. I won't say we avoid touristy areas, but we try to stay away from touristy areas that have become a 'Disney' version of themselves. We're also not into overly lavish type of places (i.e. we weren't too impressed with Capri, but loved Anacapri in Italy).

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thank you.

There is definitely plenty to see/do in Paris. Don't skip it! As for other areas, I can suggest the French Riveria. When I went, we took the TGV (that really fast, overnight train) to Nice. What a beautiful town. Such a difference compared to the big city life in Paris. : )

I've never been, but I've always wanted to go to the Normandy or Brittany regions of France- it always looks so amazing with all the cliffs and rocky beaches. It also seems less built up and touristy than Cannes or some of the Riviera areas.

I did love Paris though. You may want more than 2 days there.

2 days is not enough for Paris IMO. It's my favorite city in the world, though, so I would vote to stay the whole time!

Re: Need Suggestions for France

Go to Versailles, it is gorgeous and worth the trip, it made my 3 day trip to Paris worth it!

Also, if you want to see the Impressionsists (Renoir, Degas...etc) they are NOT in the Louvre..they are in the Musee D'Orsay.

Oh, the Mona Lisa isn't really worth wiating to see at The Louvre.

Re: Need Suggestions for France

Thanks again ladies! I'd love to have more than a week so we could spend more time in each place, but we may start TTC next summer so I want to see a few places before my travel becomes more limited. Although, I was disappointed to have only 2 days in Rome, so maybe I'll give Paris an extra day or two.

Try Nice, I lived there for a month and it was great, by the water but also a small city feel to it!
