Can anyone recommend...
A good therapist .. I think I really need to build myself up again . I am being " bashed " even worse than ever before and am starting to think that I am going to go crazy . I feel like such a POS . Am I though? For wanting a better life for me and my kids ? What is wrong with me?
Keep in mind , my gem of a husband cancelled our insurance ( me and the kids ) didn't pay for Cobra , so I have nothing right now. And can't afford to get it through my job because HE makes me pay for EVERYTHING. So I'm kind of stuck ...
ARE THINGS EVER GOING TO GET BETTER????????????

I don't know anything about LI, but when our neighbor was going through something similar, she recognized that she and her kids needed therapy. I did some online research and found her a local jewish social services organization that provides low cost therapy in these kind of circumstances. I would call one of the local women's shelters, or do some google research - I'm sure you can find something similar in your area

Many, many people on this board have referred you to the Suffolk County Coalition Against Domestic Violence several times. I strongly suggest you start there. They offer a variety of services, including counseling at low or no cost.
Good luck.

Re: Can anyone recommend...
I am sorry that I can not help,, but just wanted to tell you that you are going to get through this. My mom went through something very similar to what your situation sounds like when I was a kid and she stood strong and I have all the respect in the world for her now. Best wishes!

Yes I have been in contact with them . And am on a waiting list for counseling for both myself and my children... It just isn't available right away

Oh, I'm sorry. They didn't have anywhere else to refer you?
Do you belong to a church or a synagogue or other place of worship? They can usually be helpful in finding counselors.
Other resources on Long Island:
Nassau County Coalition Against Domestic Violence - counseling program
Long Island Crisis Center
Victims Information Bureau of Suffolk
The Retreat
Brighter Tomorrows

Have you looked into programs at a college near you? I know that Hofstra has the Saltzman Community Services Center which provides services to non-Hofstra people too. Link to their clinics & institutes
While I'm listing them, Hofstra Law School has The Center for Children, Families & the Law which might be able to help you in the legal arena if you are still looking for help there.
