What dries out your sinus cavity?
This is going to sound gross, so I apologize in advance...
My nose is clear.. I can breathe fine.. but my sinuses are all clogged and causing a nasal drip down my throat, which is causing a sore throat and cough. I am prone to sinus infections, I've had 2 this year already. I do NOT want to take more antibiotics, so I'm trying to nip this in the bud now. Currently I am using Zyrtec at night, a saline nose spray through-out the day, and a perscription nose spray (nasacort) in the morning. I still feel the congestion and if I blow hard enough mucus (sometimes greenish yellow) does finally come out my nose (nasty I know). What else can I try to dry out my sinus cavity and KEEP IT THAT WAY?!

Re: What dries out your sinus cavity?
Possible that you already have an infection.Best bet, see a doc for some antibiotics.
Sinuses- S u ck!
I take Allegra daily for my drip, which I was just literally b it ching about before that my drip is still here!
Feel better!
Maybe the Zyrtec aint working for you, try a Claritin.
ETA: Claritin D and the plain Claritin does make a difference, one releases the mucus. Im not sure which does which-sorry.

Re: What dries out your sinus cavity?
I'm with ya! I got 4 sinus infections last year!! I purchased a Neti Pot & use it regularly to keep my sinuses clean...It really works great & can prevent future infections..You can get them at any drug store.

Re: What dries out your sinus cavity?
I take Claritin, it is the only thing that works for me, and someitmes I use Veramyst, an new nose spray by prescription. Sometimes when it is really bad I use Mucinex and that helps a lot. Feel better.

Re: What dries out your sinus cavity?
I have been going thru the SAME thing for almost a week. I had been taking 24 Hr Sudafed, barely made a difference.
I finally got some Regular Sudafed, the little red pills that you have to get at the counter (NOT the Sudafed PE). I also bought Mucinex Nasal Spray Full Force 12 Hr. After both of these for 2 days, all broke free!! It was VERY VERY nasty when it broke fre b/c it did not go via my nose, it went via my throat- YUCK!
But I am feeling SO much better!!
I too suffer from chronic sinus issues, and did the antibiotic/sinus spray routine for years, but I appear to have built up a resistance, and I do not like taking antibiotics all the time.
GL!

Re: What dries out your sinus cavity?
the dr. told me to take mucinex (to get what's in there out - just keep blowing your nose for a while) and claritin (to keep you from producing more) and that really works unless i have some kind of major sinus infection (i'm prone to those too). also, the neti pot or similar is great cuz it'll flush out the sinuses and the saline will help dry things out.
