Washington DC?

My husband and I are thinking of taking a trip to go site seeing etc. What is the best way to do this? Id rather fly 1 hour on jet blue then drive. Would we have to rent a car down there or are there shuttles? Where is a really nice but central located hotel? and any restaurant suggestions?

Oh also John was hoping to catch a capitals/rangers game. is there stadium anywhere near that?
thanks girls

Re: Washington DC?

We just did a daytrip there last weekend only because we were already in Baltimore. I don't know what would have been better, flying or driving. It's a much bigger city than I remembered it being and I definitely was glad we had a car, but there's such limited parking, we had to park in parking garages. We did the touristy thing and just kind of went to the White House and took pics, saw the monument, the reflecting pool and the Lincoln memorial, but I would have loved to have done more, and my hubby would have LOVED to see a Nationals game (the new stadium is kind of on the outskirts of the city and you'd need a cab or a car to get there). I don't know about good hotels, but I do know they were everywhere. Sorry if that didn't help!

Re: Washington DC?

I live in Northern VA, so I can help. If you fly, I would fly into Reagan Airport, its closest to DC. As for hotels, stay in Arlington, either Crystal City or Rosslyn area. Rosslyn is very close to Georgetown, you just have to walk over the Key bridge. There are lots of stores and restaurants. Everything else is metro assessible. Def. go see a Nat's game, DH and I just went on Sat. The new stadium is awesome, and you can also metro there. If you decided to see the Caps instead, Verizon Center is in a great location with tons of restaurants nearby. You really don't need a car. HTH!!
