This diet is frustrating me.

I am not a very restricted diet from a nutritionist and after going back to work, (I'm a teacher), I want to scream.

I am getting so frustrated and trying so hard not to give up. This is what I have been eating.

Breakfast:
almonds, raisins and a coffee or a banana. (not much of a breakfast person and was told to eat eggs)

Lunch:
Turkey or chicken on rye or pumpernickle and a piece of fruit

Snack:
Almonds or fruit

Dinner:
protein
string bean salad and carrots

I'm not sure how much longer I can do this.

How much longer does the nutritionist want you to be on this? Can they give you any other options of what to eat?

I go back to him in two weeks. He told me I have to lose 20lbs. to the addition 12 that I lost for him to begin adding foods.

Re: This diet is frustrating me.

Honestly, my career is as a dietitian. Meaning I have a 4 year degree in nutrition, did a year of supervised practice and took a test to become nationally registered.

Anyone on the street can call themselves a nutritionist.

This diet sounds like a crock. Its overly restrictive and there fore will not be effective in the long run.

I would consider seeing a dietitian or doing weight watchers, which I think is one of the best diets out there.

I am a very picky eater. This is what I am allowed a day.

Two eggs (not a fan)
Two pieces of bread- either pumpernickle or rye
4 fruits
2 cups of veggies (from a list)
5-7 oz. of protein for dinner and lunch
8-9 cups cups of water
almonds or walnuts

Yes, but someone who really know what they are doing would work wiht your food prefernces instead of further restricting you.

I was thinking of calling him before my appointment in two weeks and discussing the diet and my frustrations.

Chat Icon Wow that is not a lot of food.

Could you sneack some more fruit or protein throughout the day. Keep you fuller longer?

ETA: the nutritionist should work with you to make you happy but keep you on the diet. Good luck

I'm not a nutritionist and that's the first thing I thought.
