So over a month ago I sent my resume out to a big financial company. I get called and go on an interview. I thought it went well. A few days later I get an e mail from a different woman in HR and we schedule an interview. Its an hour long over the phone, I thoughtit went great. The next day the woman who I would actually be working for, her secretary calls and schedules an interview. I go and she ends the interview with-the next step inthe process is so and so will contact you - I have one other internal interview August 22nd and then you will come back and meet with me again.(i think it was august 9th) Great right? I hear nothing for two weeks. August 22nd I sent an e mail to the HR woman saying i hope all is well just wondering if any deision was made regarding the position we spoke about. Nothing. She never even replies back. August 25th I get an overnight pacakge with an application and a sign off for a drug test. I send it back so it gets back that Tuesday which is the one right after labor day. I have heard nothing. What do Ido now? What does this mean? I sent out thank you letters to each of the people I met and am jsut confused. Insight would be helpful. Thank you so much for any opininos.

in my experince- you only take the drug test when you have an offer

it's not cheap for the company

I would call the HR person- skip the email

I agree with Beth.

This sounds an awful lot like Goldman.

I don't think they make an offer until your background and drug test are done.

It's part of their application process.

Call HR tomorrow.

i just sent in a form that I would

why are you depressed?

Absolutely call HR. They are not being clear and they are not going about this professionally.

They need to communicate with you.

When I interview people I tell them what our procedure is and tell them although it doesn't guarantee you an interview with the manager in the dept you would work for, this is how it's done.

It's all about managing expectations.

Our firm only gives you an app and a drug test after the offer. If you fail the drug test or they pull up some background stuff on you, they let you go right then and there.
