Anyone going to final games at Yankee Stadium/Shea?
We're going to the final two- Saturday because that's our ticket plan (having a huge tailgate with our section buddies) and Sunday for the ultimate finale. There may not be baseball in October for us...but that game will TRULY be the final game. We're gonna get there early so we can really take it all in one last time.
So who's got tickets? Who's going?

I'm going on Saturday! So not the final final game. UGH I hate that we stink Oh well...always next year. I can't wait until the game.

Not that you asked me personally but we're in Tier 36 on Sunday. 
Saturday- as usual in Bleachers section 41. Having our final tailgate of the season with our section buddies! Taking TONS of pics on both Saturday (that's more about our section/our people) and Sunday (going to Monument Park and all over the stadium one last time).
How bout everyone else?

I just read on the site....gates open 2 hours before the game starts....yet Yankees BP starts at 5:40 on 8pm game days.  So I guess we can plan to be there at 6. I just hope it won't be so crazy trying to get through Monument Park one last time!
Ugh wish this game started earlier- Monday will be BRUTAL!

Let me just warn you that you are NEVER going to get into monument park unless you are like the first person in line at gate 2 when the gates open! We went to the game last night, walked through the gate at 5:00pm (when it opened) and STILL the line to Monument Park was closed (at like 5:05). It was insanity!!

aaahhhh that BLOWS Thanks for the head's up.
It's such a sentimental spot for DH & I...our first pictures together are from Monument Park. Granted, it will be in the new stadium but it's not the same.

Aren't they moving everything to the new stadium anyway (monuments)??
yes, they are. I just want to see them in the original stadium though. It's a special spot for us.

no problem, I totally understand! I really wanted to go one last time also, but oh well...the closest we saw was from our seats!  But we did get to watch batting practice so that was fun....too bad the game was Only good part was Jeter's record-breaking!!

Hey, being there for Jeter's big moment is nothing to sneeze at. I mean, how awesome is that? Just in time, he leaves the old stadium with the record of the most hits, passing Gehrig and the Babe. WOW.
We were there for his first (and only) Grand Slam and his 2,000 hit. Awesome moments!! The grand slam was my fave though....we were going NUTS!!!
Oooh I just thought of a new thread to start...

i am going on Sunday. I was thinking I would get there around 6. My friend and I are going to Press first for some sammies and Stella.
I'm going with my screwdriver and pliers..one of those chairs is coming home with me!

BIG UPDATE!!!!
Gates are open at 1pm!!!! AND we heard they're giving access to the warning track! WOW!
Ceremonies start at 7:15. And they're supposed to do something at the end of the game - of course we expected that so you know we can't leave.
You KNOW Mo is gonna have to come in to close it....regardless if it's a save opportunity.
OMG I'm getting chills just thinking about this weekend!! Who cares if I'm a total zombie at work on Monday!

DH and I are going to the last game at Shea. I am sooooo excited. I've been going to games at Shea since I was 7 yrs old. Unfortunatly, DH only came to the U.S. in 1991, so he doesn't have the same sentiment as I do. He's more excited about CitiField. I just have a feeling that Sunday will be an emotional day for me and my pregnancy hormones won't help.

Okay...like I said up top, gates open at 1pm
If you go to Monument Park, they let you out the door that Mo (and the rest of the bullpen of course but Mo's entrance is legendary ) exits from to take the mound, and you can walk around the warning track! WOOHOO! They are stopping that at 4pm for batting practice.
I am sooooo flipping excited!!!

DH and I will be at the final game at Shea next Sunday. We're watching the ceremonies at Yankee Stadium now, and it is getting me excited/sad for next week.
I have been going to Shea since I was a really little kid, and I just told DH that I am going to be crying next week.

Saturday's game at Yankee stadium was wonderful and sad..I'm watching the last game now. So many mixed feelings so emotional. Yogi Berra is so cute.
