Very telling...

I've been out on disability for 2 weeks now...

...and I can honestly say that I don't miss teaching. At ALL.

I've always felt that my permanent place is maybe not in the classroom. I have my Masters in Literacy, and I would like to be a Literacy Specialist in the next few years, but wanted to get some more classroom experience under my belt...

I don't know. I don't think I'm supposed to dread teaching the way I do. Chat Icon

Re: Very telling...

Sometimes you realize what you wanted isnt what you thought you wanted. Experience changes the mind and opens up different posibilites for your future.

Literacy Specialist may be a good path for you. Whatever you decide I do wish you luck.

Dreading work is the worst feeling, I'm sure dreading your career choice is 10x worse

Take the time off to think and maybe look into other possiblities if you can.

Re: Very telling...

I'm the exact same way. I would never miss doing this job.

Maybe teaching just isn't for you. There's nothing wrong with that & you shouldn't feel bad about it. Chat Icon

Re: Very telling...

It's funny because when I was on maternity leave for 5 months I didn't miss teaching AT ALL!!! Now that I am back in the classroom though I realize how much I love it.

Re: Very telling...

I've been on maternity leave since October 2007 and most days I don't miss teaching at all. I do miss the other teachers, though - they were great!
