100 greatest novels...

I somehow stumbled upon Time Magazine's 100 greatest novels list. I think I am going to try and do them all, even the ones I have already read.

Anyone else ever do this?

The List

Re: 100 greatest novels...

Years ago a similar list came out and I tried to do this...only read a couple of books on the list...and one of them was Gone With The Wind...which is now my all time favorite book...it was so great.

I think I'll read a few more off the list now...thanks for posting.

Re: 100 greatest novels...

Interesting list. Some of these I completely agree with (Lolita, Invisible Man, Catch-22 for example), some I've never heard of (At Swim-Two-Birds? Snow Crash? Dance to the Music of Time?) and some I never ever EVER want to read again (The Crying of Lot 49, Portnoy's Complaint, and The Adventures of Augie March especially).

Re: 100 greatest novels...

Thanks for posting, I will try and read a couple of books from the list. There are a couple that I don't want to read again (Animal Farm is the first one that comes to mind), a couple that I have never heard of and a couple that I think should have been on the list like Jane Eyre and Braham Stocker's Dracula.

Re: 100 greatest novels...

DH and I worked on the list for a bit when we were dating ... but we never were able to get through them all.

LOL! Everyone says it's a great book, so it's probably just me -- I tried FIVE different times and could never get past 100 pages or so.

At Swim-Two-Birds is an absolutely brilliant read! It is a little difficult to read, but well worth it!

How are you doing it? I just started at the 1st one. I think I will not reread the ones I have read (maybe 1/2) unless I feel like it.
