laryngitis remedies needed! please help!
i had a sinus infection and now i have laryngitis (it sux when you have no choice but to sing when sick which definately made the situation worse for me...)
does anyone have a remedy to speed up getting my voice back? anything to allieviate the swelling on my vocal chords?

warm tea with honey will soothe your throat and rest, don't even try to speak...your vocal cords are inflamed, so using them will make it worse.

pineapple has an enzyme in it that is good for the throat.
Also, don't whisper. that strains your chords more. If you have to speak, just talk normally.

works for me. It's acidic in a not to acidic way and will clear some of the schputz that's there alleviating the irritiation while soothing it.
The real deal is just not talking. I'm sure you are coughing and probably have an irritation of your pharynx.

DH is picking me up a pineapple on his way home from work.
i definately did some damage this week singing for rosh hashanah.
my congregation is being understanding and sympathetic- they gave me off this friday and i didnt have to work on sat morning anyway.
one of my colleagues who didnt have 2nd day rosh hashanah services at her congregation volunteered to help me out this morning. i owe her big time!
i just have to have my voice back for kol nidre and yom kippur! oy!
