Crochetting Baby Blanket Question

I have made about 3 so far but I am making one for a dear friend now.

What dimensions do you make a baby blanket?? (When you first chain, how many do you do?) I am doing a double stitched blanket.

Re: Crochetting Baby Blanket Question

I don't count my cain stitches when I start a baby blanket, but I just make sure I can drape it over my knees, if that makes any sense. If I had to guess, I would say I make the chain between 3 1/2 to 4 feet.

Re: Crochetting Baby Blanket Question

sounds about right.

i like baby blankets that are a little on the "big" side. this way the baby can continue to use the blanket as they grow.

agree plus depending on what type of yarn you use, it may shrink when washed. I try and make a bit longer just incase.
