Re: Farmers market
it really can go either way... sometimes, a lot of the time, I find it less expensive to buy my produce in the supermarket.
If you buy produce that's "in season" you may be able to save a little but I find most of the time it's less in the chain stores.
If you want to save on produce, I've found some great deals in BJs.

Re: Farmers market
There is a Farmers Market at the Islip town Hall on Saturday mornings.. but I think it ends next weekend until late spring.
There is a farm stand in Sayville on Lakeland Avenue - North of the train station on the corner of Manton. It usually is closed in the winter.
Both have wonderful produce... and the prices are okay.

Re: Farmers market
There's a farmers market in Northport village on Saturday mornings thru November (or early Nov). I'm not really sure how the selection or prices compare to the supermarket.
After spending the week last week out in Montauk and driving back & forth thru to East Hampton, the markets out there are pretty awesome!! I wish we had more room in the car on the way home!

Re: Farmers market
J.Kings sponsors a farmer's market with all local produce Thursdays - Saturdays from 10-5 on Furrows Rd. in Holtsville.
