I make this all the time - its delicious - from Martha Stewart:

Makes 1

* 1 8-ounce wheel Camembert or Brie cheese, cold
* 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
* 1 large Bosc pear, peeled and cut into 1/4-inch dice
* 2 tablespoons brandy
* 1 teaspoon chopped fresh rosemary, plus more for garnish
* 2 tablespoons balsamic vinegar
* 1 tablespoon honey
* 8 walnut halves

Directions

1. Slice cheese wheel in half crosswise; set aside. In a medium skillet over medium heat, melt butter. Add diced pear, and cook until tender, about 3 minutes. Stir in brandy, and cook 1 minute more. Add rosemary, and stir to combine. Remove from heat, and spread pear mixture over bottom half of reserved sliced cheese wheel, reserving 2 tablespoons mixture for garnish. Transfer cheese to serving plate.
2. Return skillet to stove, and heat balsamic vinegar and honey until simmering. Simmer mixture until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Set aside to cool, about 5 minutes. Pour half the glaze over cheese and reserved pear mixture; top with remaining half of cheese wheel and pears. Drizzle with remaining glaze, and garnish with walnut halves and rosemary. Serve immediately.

I heard dark chocolate goes amazing well with red wine? YOu can try that.

Are you selling the wine for your party? Similar to a pampered chef party? Or just having friends over? Just curious Chat Icon

Oh... I love Chat Icon wine and have been to a few wine tasting parties b/c my friend's in the business.

Horderves are always good to serve. Maybe spinach dip with pita chips, hummus, fruit platter, etc. Some hot horderves you can pick up at Cosco.

We did a wine and chocolate tasting a couple of years ago at a vineyard, and it's amazing how well the two go together. There were different types of dark chocolates, like some had a hint of raspberry, some had a hint of orange, and they paired them with different red wines.

I know you said you are having cheese, but I like to put goat cheese on a cracker with a piece of pear. It makes a good, simple and quick HOD.

I agree -

You could also do a choclate fondue, or chocolate covered strawberries. -
Put out candy dishes of good dark chocolate
