I assume you are going on a cruise? I think the popular places to stay pre or post cruise have been Hyatt, Renaissance, Marriot (I think it is now the bahia mar- not 100% but I think it has been renamed).

When we cruise out of Ft Lauderdale we have stayed a few times at the Hyatt Pier 66 which is really nice (Not beachfront - I think it was 3 blocks from the beach -but it IS on the causeway and there is a water taxi stop right at the hotel) We even watched our ship(crown princess) sail in the morning of our cruise from our room (it is 5 mins from the port)

On the beach:
My parents have stayed at the yankee clipper which I believe is on the beach. They said it was okay but not that great.

The Ritz Carlton is supposed to be nice

There is a marriott harbor beach

The pelican grand beach resort looks nice

there's a Sheraton right on the beach, I think it's the Yankee Clipper. It's a little bit older, but they do have a newer part of the hotel. It's pretty reasonable.

We stayed at the Yankee Clipper. It was nice. Nothing fancy but nice. The beach is right across the street and it's in the middle of all the restaurants and bars.
