Ways to saute/cook/season shrimp??

I am planning on making penne pasta with a light alfredo/parmesan cheese sauce... yum! I want to add something extra to it and thought of shrimp. I need a way to saute, season and/or cook the shrimp and make it really yummy and flavorful.

Any suggestions?? I wouldn't mind something a little spicy. Also, we like garlic so that is fine. Any ideas on different ways to season and saute the shrimp would be great!!

TIA!!!!! Chat Icon

this was really good, it's not spicy though. You can always add red pepper flakes

Ingredients

1 cup butter

2 tablespoons prepared Dijon-style mustard

1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice

1 tablespoon chopped garlic

1 tablespoon chopped fresh parsley

2 pounds medium raw shrimp, shelled, deveined, with tails attached

DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).

In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the butter, mustard, lemon juice, garlic, and parsley. When the butter melts completely, remove from heat.

Arrange shrimp in a shallow baking dish. Pour the butter mixture over the shrimp.

Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until the shrimp are pink and opaque.

Re: Ways to saute/cook/season shrimp??

if you just want something to throw in the sauce I would do this..

smash up 4 gloves of garlic per pound of shrimp ( a couple of whacks with the flat side of the knife)

heat some olive oin in a saute pan, add garlic and saute until fragrant (but not brown!) add cleaned shrimp and saute 3-4 minutes

add salt, pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes

add a few tablespoons of either white wine or some kind of broth to shrimp cover and let steam through.

you either have the option of draining the shrimp from it's cooking liquid or kicking up your sauce a notch by adding it in.

Re: Ways to saute/cook/season shrimp??

Actually, I did something so easy last night.

I defrosted frozen shrimp that was deveined. Pulled the shells off, threw them in olive oil, minced garlic, italian seasoning and some red pepper flakes and let them sit in that for about 10 minutes. Then I put them in the oven (just spread them over foil) and spooned some of the marinade over them. I cooked them for about 15 minutes in a 375 degree oven. They came out sooooooo good!

Can I do this but instead of cooking it in the oven saute it in a pan?
