What do you wear on formal night on a cruise?
Ladies- gown or cocktail dress? or other. DH is wearing a tux but I'm trying to figure out whether to buy a gown or not.

you can wear either. When I was on a cruise I wore cocktail style dresses---others wore gowns and some even wore less formal like pant suits or sundresses.

I just wore cocktail dresses that I had.. some women wore gowns which were very pretty but I could get how they got them there and they still looked nice lol

Either - esp it depends on the cruiselines - I find some are dressier than others. I see plenty of women in long and short gowns. If you have a long one or one you want to wear I say go for it - otherwise a dressy cocktail dress will work just fine. Most of the time only 30-50% of the men wear tuxes - but I think it is nice when they do - DH wears one on formal nights when we go - but I do usually wear a long dress.

cocktail dress. I think a gown may be too much. I actually wore a very dressy pants outfit, the pants were made of a flowy chiffon and looke liked a dress when I stood still.

I wear a long dress and DH wears a suit. Formal nights are so much fun. It's great to see everyone all dressed up.
Check your itenirary, if you are on a 7 day cruise most likely you will have 2 formal nights. If you are on a 5 day you will most likely have 1.

I actually didn't wear a dress. I wore black pants with a very dressy top - beaded, etc.

If DH is wearing a Tux I would buy a long gown. Your pictures will come out great and you might match better

Sometimes they have two formal nights.
I wear a gown one night and a cocktail dress the other.
If you leave your dresses in the plastic dry cleaning bags in your suit case and pull them up as soon as you get there the wrinkles just fall out.
