what would you think...
if you found out your mgr passed a BIG client onto a co-worker (that's been at the company for 7-8mths) as opposed to you (been with mgr for 2yrs)
I'm not going to lie, I'm really hurt and concerned
And you only found out because you asked about it.... weren't told or given any heads up about it. Didn't even know this client was "up for grabs" so to speak.

Re: what would you think...
I would definitely be hurt and p'd off Once I calmed down I would ask their reasons (in a non-confrontational way of course) to at least have an idea why they did this.
Do you have a good relationship with your manager?

Re: what would you think...
I would want to know why. I'd also want to check in with my manager to find out if he or she thinks my performance is good and if I need to improve in any areas. Obviously ask in a non-confrontational way. (Do you have an annual review coming up?)
The client could have been given to your coworker for a very benign reason, though. If I were in that situation, I'd be wondering, too.
Good luck!

I apologize - I should've added that.
When I asked about the client, my Mgr said they were giving it to the co-worker bc we lost a couple of other clients during the year (two of which my coworker dealt with) so my Mgr wanted my co-worker to have this one.
I understand that and all, but its our BIGGEST client. And my Mgr is the main person that deals w/ all the accounts and all of us help out so I think the clients could've been switched around another way.
I'm really concerned about my security here.

That does sound like a reasonable explanation to me. I would try not to read too much into it and maybe find a way to indicate to your manager that you'd like to work with some of the larger clients if possible to see how he reacts. I don't necessarily think this means they are not pleased with your work performance.

Re: what would you think...
I agree that it seems reasonable.
If you are concerned about your performance, maybe talk to your boss about it BEFORE YOUR REVIEW. Be proactive & ask for additonal responsibilities or ways to improve. I wouldn't harp on the big client & wouldn't mention it when asking.
