Funny line from a student

Did you ever have a student say something to you that caught you so off guard you had to laugh? I teach 4th grade and my kids were taking their spelling test. One of my boys says "I have a stomachache from too much writing. Actually no I dont." I dont know why, but I found it funny and we all got a good laugh.

I actually started reciting the "who's on first" skit (Abbot and Costello) for one of my students b/c everything I said to him the other day was "who?"..."wait, what?..." I actually have to find it on line now to play for him. I was cracking up though b/c it was just one of those days.

4th grader also...must be the age...Chat Icon

Re: Funny line from a student

Several years ago. I had a very young, sweet 7th grade girl say to me, very unembarrassed, "Can I have a late pass so my teacher doesn't think that I was j*rking off in the hallway?" I was so stunned that i repeated, very loudly "J*RKING OFF????" She said yes, and her friend was next to her nodding.

She must not have known what it meant. She probably heard it in the context of wasting time. Chat Icon
