Sandals in Jamaica Recc.

DH and I are going to Jamaica to stay at a Sandals for our 2 year anniversary during February break. We have already stayed at the Whitehouse and Royal Carribean (both Sandals properties in Jamaica). We have currently booked airfare already but are unsure of which Sandals to stay at this time. Any reccommendations? We were thinking Dunn's River. The only problem I have is the bus rid from the airport. Please give me your recommendations of any Sandals you have stayed at in Jamaica. TIA!!

Re: Sandals in Jamaica Recc.

I love Dunn's River. I stayed at Ocho Rios and would not stay there again. It was good but compared to many other Sandels I would say its not the best. Dunn's River was beautiful. I did not stay there but when we went to Ocho Rio's we visited there many times and loved it. Did you think about Montego Bay? I meet up with a couple at Ocho Rios who said they usually stay there and love that resort because it is so close to the airpot. I do have to agree that the ride is no fun.

*Any questions please feel free to FM!

I second the Couples resorts! I know you said Sandals, but we are diehard Couples fans, and have been 3 times!

We stayed at Royal Plantation Inn next door to the Ocho Rios Sandals and visited it for dinner. It was pretty nice.

We're going to the new section at the Sandals Negril in July, they just renovated. We've never been to Dunne's River but I heard its great.

Hope that helps, good luck!

Re: Sandals in Jamaica Recc.

Thank you so much for all of your responses! I am still on the fence only becuase of the trk from the Montego Bay Airport to the resort. Be honest with me....How bad was the drive? I know it is 2 hours, but was it atrocious or tolerable? When we went to the Whitehouse it was a 2 hour drive and it was insanity! I was so nauseous and it was so uncomfortable. After traveling all day via cars and air I need to know how bad the transfer from airport to resort is. TIA!!!

The trip to Ocho is much worse than the trip to Whitehouse in Negril. The roads to Negril were just redone a few years ago, so while it seems bad, it's actually very good by Jamaican standards!

Re: Sandals in Jamaica Recc.

I did not think the ride was that bad.The roads are new so it was not that bad. To me its just the 2 hours that stinks. After all that flying all I want to do is get to the resort. I would do the ride again to go to Dunns River. I also had a late flight so got to the resort very late. If I had an earlier flight I think it would have been better.

Re: Sandals in Jamaica Recc.

We stayed at Ocho Rios and thought it was nice, but I preferred having lots to choose from (lots of restaurants on site, etc.) Visited Dunn's River and it was too small for my taste. The ride from Montego Bay was ok, the way there was worse b/c we just had a 15 passenger van but it was fine. The ride back to the airport was on a coach bus so that was really fine.

I'm going in 8 days! I figure - heck, I'm on vacation so I'll $uck up the bus ride but I do get car sick so I'm just going to take either dramamine or bonine to help - works like a charm!!!!!

We are going to Ocho Rios because we wanted a room with a private pool - also, our room is a private villa - another thing we really wanted. Luckily, we can experience different restaurants by going to Dunn's River by shuttle which is right near by - same thing w/ beaches and pools if we want on some days!

We stayed at Ocho Rios and had a great time. We also had a room with a private pool Chat Icon which I would highly recommend.
