thos who work in HR questionabout salray in that feild
I worked in HR before becoming a tecaher. I worked in the payroll department, not much room for growth. i have been a nyc teacher now for 7 years and with the salry steps and going back to school i now earn about 25,000 more than i did in hr 7 years ago. By 2010 i wuillbe making 35,000 more thani did back in 2002 in HR. I dont belive iw oudl have gotten 35,000 worthof raises evben if i switched companys in 8 years.
My mom and dh swear i woudl be making more had i stayed in HR feild. i dont agree. They are very happy i went into tecahing but swear i would be making more. Thought?

I think it depends on where you worked..ex. NYC vs. LI or NJ...
I've been in HR for 8 years now and I've gotten just about $30k in raises in those 8 years so I guess it depends.

Re: thos who work in HR questionabout salray in that feild
I know for a fact that I make about $50k more than I did 7 years ago because my salary when we bought our first house was about that much less than when we just bought this one.
But it was in promotions, not just raises.
You can make a lot in HR if you put in the time and go from a Rep to a Director fairly quickly in the right company.

I work in HR on Long Island and make low six figures, I have a Masters and 10 years experience. I have been with my current company 6 years and started at $60k. So it is definitely possible.
