Re: I'm taking a calligraphy class
I started when I was in 10th grade and it stuck. My bff's mom knew it and we basically traced papers and copied. We used graph paper to help us.
Now, I still do it but I have to say it helped my penmenship tremendously. It just takes TONS of practice. I would do it while watching tv.
ETA: I was able to do our wedding invites which was awesome siince they were 100% handmade!

I've always wanted to learn, but being a lefty I never did it.

Re: I'm taking a calligraphy class
I took classes at Nassau Community and I really liked it. I have all the supplies. Now I just have to pick up the pen again!

Re: I'm taking a calligraphy class
i learned it when i was in elementary school. and being a lefty, i actually learned how to do all of it upside down. it meant i held the paper like a right handed person would, and worked in the correct direction. (only way i could get the thick and thin lines holding the pen) i never did invitations and such, but i did plenty of poems and things. knew serveral different styles over the years. its very slow when you are a lefty though. took too long to use it for anything that required some form of speed. i do miss it sometimes though.
