With thanksgiving coming up this thursday

Do any of you think you might fall of the wagon? I mean this is going to be my first real test to see how much will power i have with all of the goodies and "I" really dont want to gain from eating, What can i do to make myself stay on the program and not eat so much... I know this is a stupid question, But i figure with the support of my fellow w.w. lif'ers you can help me...Thank you!Chat Icon

they say at the meetings that its only 1 day. just eat in moderation. don't over do it. have a little bit of everything. it won't harm you. see what they're having then u could prepare yourself for it

we're doing thanksgiving so i know what's on the menu. i'm not going to over do it

Exactly what Gail said...it is one day out of 7. They key is to just eat and enjoy and not stress and come Friday morning continue on schedule. Don't go in there with an all or nothing mind set and Friday morning be jumping head first back into the pumpkin pie. You will be fine. And if you are up a little don't worry about it. It will be off the following week. Chat Icon

I agree with these girls! Go in with a game plan but don't stress too heavily about it. Enjoy everything but be sensible and eat with moderation. I try only to eat till I'm satisfied (feels like nothing - not hungry not full). That way I end up stopping before I get to the point of being too full. That always helps too!

Like Kim said, most important just make sure it's one day, one meal and on Friday you get right back on that horse.

I agree with the other ladies....little tip drink like a bottle of water before you sit down to dinner and then 1 while you are eating.....take a LITTLE bit of everything so there is variety and you taste it all and then you wont feel deprived or like you killed your diet

its 1 day and it comes once a year try and enjoy and then Friday hop back on the wagon

oh and dont take leftovers home

You know what I do? I eat a little something before I go so I don't arrive starved. The hungrier you are around a lot of food, the more trouble you will be in.

Have something with protein - like peanut butter on wheat crackers, or a piece of cheese with whole grain bread.

Eat slowly and be aware of what you are eating. studies show that we eat more when we are out with friends or dong social events. Now you are armed with that info so be in the moment. Chat Icon

I don't know if your thanksgving is like my family's, but we have things out before we sit - nuts, chips, pretzels, etc. Instead of hovering over the serving bowls and grabbing handfuls, I get a small plate and dole out a dish with my favorites and try to nurse it the whole time before the sit down.

When you sit down, scan the food. Think about you want to eat before you eat it. Eat slowly and be aware. Start with soup if they have soup - it fills you up. G easy on the wine as it is empty calories.

Same with dessert. Look first, and then try!

Another tip, be sure to eat breakfast! I used to skip breakfast thinking i was going to be eating more at dinner. But my nutritionist told me it will just set me up for over eating. It definitly helps!
And look at all there is to offer and make wise decisions. I scan the table first and then decide what i am going to eat. Eventhough i want to taste it all i figure "I'll that when she makes it for Christmas..." Good luck!

I did good ladies, I had 2 pieces of turkey and spinach, sweet potatoe 2 pieces they were sliced thin, very small helping of mash potatoe like a dime size, corn, apple sauce that is it.. They were all dime sized helpings.Chat Icon And i was full.
