So you have to get to Boston in December. The party you are going to starts at 5:30. You are coming from the Bronx or Manhattan.

Would you:

Take a 2:00 train arriving at 3:30 whcih would include (1) transporting yourself to the airport via public transportation or taxi depending on the weather, (2) airport hassel (no luggage), (3) taxi to office (10 minutes). Not to mention to risk of flight delays.

OR take the accella train at 1:00 which would arrive at 4:30. I'm already in the city so I have to take 1 subway (maybe 2) to Penn station. Get on the train. And then get off and take anotehr train/taxi to the hotel.

Re: Plane v. Train

Normally I would say plane, but being already in the city I would go with the train. It would be less hassle for you to get to the airport. How far is the train station from the hotel in Boston?

What's the weather forcast? Chat Icon

ETA- In general I usually chose train VS plane for Boston, b/c it takes almost the same time including getting to the airport & security & all that.

However, on your other thread I chose the flight, b/c I thought that would allow you to work the latest, but if Penn is convienent, go for the train. You don't have to be there as far in advance.

There can be delays on Acela too though, and you have less of a window to make the party on time, but on hour is still probably enough.

The acela to boston is a piece of cake. Working in the city I can tell you it's easier to do that than have to get to take the time to get to and from the airport. I take Amtrak from Penn to most cities within that time frame/distance rather than flying which means getting out of the city to get to LGA or Newark or JFK. Train is way easier...and the seats are more comfortable.

Head to the back of the train for the quiet car, it's always less crowded, and and no loud conversations or cell phone talkers. Chat Icon

i live in boston - i would definetly take the train from manhattan -it is easier to fly when going to and from the island but easier to take the train when going from each city

let me know if you need any help figuring out where to go in boston

also note- most of the time the accela is a little late for me

the accela also has outlets to plug laptops in

Re: Plane v. Train

Train. I am beginning to hate flying anywhere because of all the security at the airport. I realize it's necessary, but for a short trip like this, I'd take the train.

I like the train better too - I can see more out the window. Chat Icon
